A favourite of visitors and locals for more than 25 years, Tmun (formerly at Xlendi) is nowadays tucked away on the marina road behind a row of colorful Gozitan fishing boats.
Leli is the supreme front-of-house man and oversees a team of outstandingly friendly and attentive waiting staff. His wife Jane, considered y many to be one of the best fish chefs on the island, created a number of signature dishes on our menu. Their son Paul has inherited her passion and developed her range further. He works behind a window in full view of the diners – a sure sign of confidence. A choice of meat dishes are available but fish has always been the specialty, usually grilled, al sale (baked in salt) or cartoccio (in foil with Gozo olive oil and herbs). And with local fishermen constantly padding barefoot across the street to deliver their daily catch it could hardly be fresher. The bouillabaisse, served for two to share, has been a constant preference for regulars, as has Jane’s delightful cheesecake and the array of homemade ice creams.
