MTA launch the Quality Assured guide
The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) has just launched the Quality Assured guide which lists all the quality assured restaurants, visitor attractions and destination management companies for 2015-2016.
During the launch at The Palace, Sliema, the MTA CEO Mr. Paul Bugeja spoke about the importance of quality to the tourism industry and that more and more tourists are making a decision about the place they visit based on the quality of the product and services offered. The MTA CEO also highlighted the improvements made to the restaurant scheme for 2016 including a criterion on wine made from grapes grown on the Maltese islands and another important criterion covering first aid training. In the near future there will also be the potential of an Erasmus+ project that will cover the cost of one or two-week job placements to Rome for employees of Quality Assured restaurants.
During the event Mr. Bugeja announced that in the last intake there were 45 additional applicants for the QA seal to the already 111 certified businesses, 72 of which are restaurants. During the event Mr. Fabian Grech from Scruples shared his experience as a quality assured restaurant, whilst there were separate presentations about the benefits and improvements to the scheme.
The Quality Assured seal is supported by Ministry for Tourism, MHRA, FATTA and sponsored by Marsovin.
The Quality Assured booklet will be distributed free of charge from all Tourist Information Offices in Malta and Gozo.
